General Description
The Safety Officer is under the direct supervision of the Safety Director. The Safety Officer is responsible for inspecting casinofacilities observing operations and activities, investigating health and safety complaints and ensuring that the casino is in compliance with Federal Labor Laws. Will assist with administrative clerical duties as needed.
Work Schedule
- Requires morning, afternoon, evenings and overnights. Monday through Sunday
- Request to be scheduled off for a specific day requires advance notification and approval by supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop emergency strategies.
- Update and maintain the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
- Inspects casino facilities observing operations and activities, investigating health and safety complaints and ensuring that the casino is in compliance with Federal Labor Laws
- Observes work in progress, ensures that proper safety equipment is worn ad procedures are followed.
- Coordinates and consults with upper Administration (Chief Operations Officer, General Manager, Operations Manager, and Human Resources Director) regarding health and safety issues in their respective areas and notifies management staff regarding violations of safety regulations and codes.
- Makes recommendations for corrections and follow up to ensure that violations have been corrected.
- Analyzes hazards and develops ergonomic risk assessments for both public and non-public areas.
- Develops policies, plans, and procedures to minimize risk to the public and employees.
- Workers’ Compensation; compiles, analyzes, and interprets accident, injury and lost time statistics and cost data reports for the Safety Committee.
- Resolves complaints and makes recommendations to management for corrective action, as required.
- Is a designee for the upper Administration which implements approved internal safety rules, policies, and guidelines.
- Insures preparation of Safety Manuals, training outlines, and employee instructions for work deemed to have recognized hazards.
- Conducts or provides for employee safety training, including classroom lectures, demonstrations, or hands-on instruction.
- Reviews accidents and makes recommendations for prevention of similar future incidents.
- Ensures that the District complies with all environmental regulations regarding hazardous substance handling and disposal.
- Maintains the OSHA complaint Fit Testing Program for all employees.
- Attends meeting as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Job Requirements
- Sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with lunch break.
- Requires bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and pulling.
- Move objects up to and exceeding 25lbs. with reasonable accommodations.
Qualification Standards
- Must pass pre-employment drug test
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Computer literate
- Must maintain valid Cheyenne and Arapaho Gaming License.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills
